Chipmaker Nexperia faces an “existential threat” following the Dutch government’s seizure of management control, with hundreds of jobs in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK at risk, its Chinese owner has said.
The Dutch government’s move has sparked key staff departures at Nexperia, which makes basic chips widely used in cars, and has paralysed many of its industrial operations, its owner Wingtech told the Financial Times.
Nexperia’s Dutch headquarters and Chinese operations are engaged in an increasingly bitter and public feud over the chipmaker’s fate, with the Chinese unit telling local staff to disregard instructions from the Dutch head office.
