Saab and Swedish government officials travelled to Detroit yesterday for talks with General Motors over last-minute options to save the brand from closure.
This came as Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co (BAIC), part of a bidding group for Saab that collapsed last week, held talks at the carmaker's Trollhattan headquarters about transferring some of its old-model production equipment to China.
Jan Ake Jonsson, Saab's managing director, went to Detroit with J?ran H?gglund, state secretary with Sweden's industry ministry, ahead of a meeting of GM's board, a company spokesman confirmed.
